A poem written about a crumbling marriage
Words whip and with laser accuracy
Slit my heart into a frayed mass
That beats apathetically.
Corrosive blood presses through,
Threatening to drowned me
And leave me for dead.

He walks away
Saying he didn’t mean to hurt me
But he steps into the pool of blood
And tracks it off
Dragging me, bloodied
Along into his future.
I suffer,
Until I am able to heal
And stand again
Alone
And free.
