My fear of the dark
The dark is my greatest fear
Help me find my way out
Eventually, they say, I won't fear it

Dangers lurk everywhere
And my fear grows
Realizing I can't escape the monsters
Keeping me trapped in the dark

They close in
Hungry for me, as my fear fills their noses
Enticing them closer

Dimer the light fades
As their giant, hungry maws come closer
Reeking of death
Killing the last hope of light I had

Then all of the lights come on
Helping me see the monsters for what they were
Everything was my imagination running wild

Don't read the poem down
And face the fear we know we feel
Reading it will set us free from what is
Keeping us here in the dark, the fear
