A religious poem from the view of one who has received salvation.
Saving Light

I walked among shadows,
Darkness as thick as tar,
Black soot upon my soul,
Craving eternal light.

A peripheral flicker momentarily
Pierced through the gloom.
I turned to face the waning light,
Stretched forth my hands and cried.

Weakness overtook my knees
As cleansing whiteness washed
Over my eyes and
Penetrated into my soul.
