We Need a Hero

Call me old fashioned
or say I’m naïve,
but we need a leader -
someone to believe.

Someone who has courage
to do what is right.
Someone you would follow
right into a fight.

Someone who is honest
and never would lie.
That sure is a rare one
and hard to come by.

It could be a woman
who answers our quest.
Let’s stay open-minded;
we just want the best.

But we need a hero.
Someone who is strong,
who’ll join us together,
who knows right from wrong.

We need a good person.
We’ll take nothing less.
Our country needs someone
to clean up this mess.

They may not be perfect,
this one that we choose.
From where we have come from,
we’ve nothing to lose.
