Trust not the mask I wear to hide a weeping heart.
Around the corner of my smile
A teardrop makes its way.
My lips are curved, but see the guile
Which at the edges play.

Trust not the smiling mask I wear
To hide a weeping heart.
I'm loath to lay such sadness bare.
My hiding it is art,

And only in these words of pain,
Which cannot reach a soul,
Do I forbear the smile to feign
And cease to play my role.
