A poem which tells of a person’s relief at the end of a hot summer
At last! Summer be gone.
Pleased am I to bid you farewell.
A summer hotter than in any other eon.
Of days sweltering under your relentless sun.

My garden waits. Crisp, dry and parched.
Even the trees seem about to drop their branches.
Like lawns brown and scorched
I too wait to welcome the Autumn rains.

Thirsts will be slaked as empty dams refill.
Livestock gather at water’s rim.
Farmer’s dreams full fill
And frogs and fish begin to swim.
