Two 8-line verses in Iambic Tetrameter
God Says 'Goodnight'
When royal blues and azures blend
with turquoise, teal, and robin’s egg;
When salmon splashes coral streaks,
and crimson hangs upon a peg,
I see in sacrifice the love
which drives away the shadows’ fright.
I see the peaceful evening sky,
and hear God wish us all ‘Goodnight’.
When golden sabres slash the day,
and orange skewers pierce the sky;
When bloom carnations in the clouds,
and weary souls breathe restful sighs;
When labour’s done and minds are free;
When evening’s come and yet not quite,
be still and listen for the voice
and hear God wish us all ‘Goodnight’.
