For the insomniacs, 3am worriers, and those who cry themselves to sleep: You aren't alone.
My life is a lot like
the Winter Solstice—
warm rays of prosperity
do not shine on me,
for long.

It is fortunate that,
like the blooming buds
of an evening primrose,
I too unfurl myself most gracefully
in the hour of dusk.

Perhaps, God created me
because He knew
I'd be the moon's
best-suited companion;

our forlorn souls,
predestined
to light the night
in unison—

beacons to the children
who stay up,
staining their pillows
with tears.

Maybe, our twin-lights
are meant to be
a signal:

'You are not alone.'
