Keep your guard up at all times.
There are two types in this cruel world,
just predators and prey.
Yeah, ever since the world began
it’s always been that way.

Now you may think that I am wrong,
but take a look around.
You’ll surely see what I have seen.
Those predators abound.

They may not look like you would think.
They’re not all dark and gray.
No, some will look like you and me.
You see them every day.

They come in every shape and form.
Sure, some are soft and round.
But they may be the ones who strike
with very little sound.

They may not use their claws and teeth –
just simple words they say.
Oh, words can be as sharp as spears.
A piercing word can slay.

Some victims are too scared to talk.
Their voices have been bound.
Or maybe they’re so fearful, they
are howling like a hound.

So keep your guard up at all times
to keep those wolves at bay.
And when you get the chance you might
get on your knees and pray.

Or maybe you’re the predator,
the meanest, pound for pound.
You’re not the sheep you look to be
and that’s how you astound.

Yes, you’re the tiger in this fight.
The one who will hold sway.
You’ll be the one left standing tall
amid the bloody fray.

I don’t know whom to trust right now
as I look all around.
All I can do is try to be
the last one in the ground.
