A poem about the time I spent with elementary school friends under our favorite tree.
Come my friends, come!
Here we shall gather
To collect memories
And share imaginations

Under our shade
Under our stronghold
We will fly over unknown lands
We will battle for glory
We will discover new territory
While showing off our magic powers

Under the branches of our meeting place
Here we will discuss life
As 5th graders understand it
And we will hold together
When the rain falls down
Finding shelter under the blanketing leaves
Of our fortress

Here we will gather to remind ourselves
That childhood is precious
And that friends are won and lost
Even under a tree
