She then gave me the victory sign.
She said she knew some sign language.
I guess she saw my doubt.
So she gave me the thumbs up sign.
I know what that’s about.

And then she made an okay sign.
Well, I knew that one too.
Two fingers in a circle form,
that’s one that I can do.

She then gave me the victory sign,
two fingers in a V,
the way that Churchill raised his hand
before their victory.

I laughed and told her how absurd.
(Although it still was cute.)
She raised her middle finger then
and gave me a salute.

And then she turned off all the lights
and shone a flashlight beam.
She tried some shadows on the wall,
not easy it would seem.

Those shadows didn’t look like much.
In fact, they were just blurs.
I tried some, too, but sad to say,
mine were as bad as hers.

We both were laughing hard by then,
but that’s just an excuse.
Our fingers were still reaching out
so we put them to use.

Sign language may be great for some,
for that is how they talk.
I’d rather put my hands to work
and let my fingers walk.
