Pirates are among us still.
We talk of pirates nowadays
like they deserve some kind of praise.
But they were not good folks to know,
I really hate to tell you so.

In fact, they were pure evil men.
We learned of this time and again.
They’d pillage, plunder, rape and kill.
And pirates are among us still.

Oh, they don’t have a wooden leg,
or drink rum from an oaken keg.
Instead they look like you and I,
some tall, some short, some bold, some shy.

The Jolly Roger doesn’t fly
as once it did in days gone by.
No cannons booming far out at sea.
It’s really peaceful as can be.

But underneath this tranquil calm
there still is fear of dreadful harm.
These new-age pirates never rest,
while evil hearts beat in their breasts.

They’re working hard both night and day
to steal from you, somehow, some way.
They’ll go to lengths to steal your name.
To them it’s just a playful game.

And when they have all that they need,
they’ll satisfy their nasty greed.
They’ll plunder just like days of old,
but now there are no chests of gold.

No, all the thefts are done online.
They’ll do their best to steal you blind.
So heed my words and be aware.
There still are pirates everywhere.
