Trapped in limbo

Something is broken inside
something is long gone
shattered pieces of me
which can't be picked up
floating inside my veins

Can't see any future
don't dare to look back
memories may kill
yesterday has already passed
and until tomorrow I won't last

I'm still breathing today
only because I must
I never got to choose
I've been kept a prisoner on earth
for oh such a long time

Have been wondering why
nobody takes any notice of
this empty shell walking on and on
even though it's human essence
is dead and buried in the darkness

Keeping up a facade is draining me but I've no chance to get
any sleep nor any rest
the ghost of me keeps performing
its soul-less existence trapped inside
this limbo
