Watchers

the most boring day is filled with such a noise
only those with ears to listen will hear "hey sweetie"
from the black capped chickadees
See the house finches wearing your first love's freckles on their chests?
Cardinals and their tan lovers side by side at the feeders
bully blue jays getting by on their looks before they open their mouths to an ungraceful noise
When did we stop listening?

The trees are full of gossip
but no lawyer sits with binoculars at his office
beauty to be sure
and no runway model styles
like the titmouse in color and hair
