You've done such much, now I must try to thank you.
As reality crumbles around me like the abandonded
walls of ancient ruins,
I meet your eyes and know everything is fine,
For there is a certainty in your eyes that remains
  unmatched, unique in its strength.
Many times I allow myself to fall into a private
  misery
Only to be pulled back from my own destruction.
I turn and it is your hand on my shoulder, rough
  from work, but gentle from love.
In the moments of chaotic torture from the ones
  asking and demanding perfection
Your voice breaks through the millions of voices,
Soothing, quiet, telling me that perfection is
  impossible, but left as I am, I am so incredibly
  close.
In the twilight hours that I am awake,
  shivering, tired, and alone
I picture you in all your glory, a bright glow
  surrounding you;
Your arms are once again around me, warming me,
  protecting me, lulling me to sleep.
Though I know that there will be a time when you
  will leave this earth,
I treasure the moments we have together.
The dearest of, when you are my protector, my
  mentor, my lover, will be kept at my heart.
And I cry, thinking of all you have given me, but
  the little I can give in return.
So with this, I give you my being;
I give you my heart to beat in rhythm with yours.
  My touch to wipe away your tears when you are
   alone.
  My once unbridled spirit that you have gently
   tamed.
  My tears to wash away your pain.
  My dreams for you to soar on while you sleep.
I give all I can , yet it so small.
       And I cry.
