VISITING EARTH

In my spaceship, I was filled with mirth
As I set out to visit planet Earth!
I waved goodbye as off I flew,
It was time for a dream come true!

I'd read about Earth folks
And heard a lot of funny jokes;
So it was an adventure I'd enjoy
To meet a very cute Earth boy.

I landed after a bit of time
Right at the edge of the River Rhine!
It was very dark with no one about,
Off with my spacesuit and I climbed out.

I could see bright lights far away,
And strange sounds like people play;
They really seemed a friendly bunch,
Perhaps they'd invite me to lunch!

But when I arrived, they ran off!
Some at my purple hair did scoff!
Yet one brave human stayed to look,
He said "Good day! I am a cook!"

I sure was hungry, I declare!
The food looked good, but did I dare?
Brave as a space woman can be,
I ate it all, as he looked on in glee!

He said he'd never seen hair like mine,
Or clothes made out of knotty pine;
And I giggled at his leather pants,
It was indeed a rare circumstance!

I told him I must get back home,
But he gave me a glass filled with foam
And told me he'd like to come with me
To meet the rest of my family!

I soon made myself disappear
Before I drank all of his beer;
I had plans to visit another place,
I had much to learn of the human race!

Back at the spaceship I got in,
Someday I would come back again;
This Earth boy was kind and fair
So I left him a lock of my purple hair.
