written when I lived alone
She wakes to the radio,
Daybreak in musical tones,
Lets the cat come in to purr-
At least she’s not alone.

Stumbling through routines,
A workday’s coming awake,
Thoughts go dripping from her dreams
As she gives her head a shake.

Surveys house with quick inspection
She runs out in a flutter
As if it matters to the cat
That she has left some clutter.

Day to day is all the same
Radio, cat and thoughts clatter
Conversing as they always do
But does it really matter?
