This turtle didn't need my help, but inspired an imagination adventure.
A Hare of a Tortoise

Choreography of my brake
with rear view car watch
as horned cacophony
builds behind me.

Visions of bloody smash or
of memory friend who always
rescued turtles off the road.

This turtle snatches decision's moment--

My image--woman of old
on cross creek trudge
hitching great arm loads of skirt and petticoat.

Just so, the Tortoise heaves shell high
rapidly races across double lane
on slender four post legs
then barely beyond wheel's reach
pulls shelled retreat.
