EYE OF THE STORM

The rhythm of the rain
increased from gentleness to fury;
The wind picked up to near gale force,
a just cause for all to worry.

Lightning flashed across the sky,
and thunder rolled, impending doom;
We're caught in the eye of a storm
that won't be ending soon.

Morning's light will tell the tale
if we live through until tomorrow;
When the storm's fury passes
we will see the depths of sorrow.
