A poem I wrote for my Dad after my Mom passed away.
A Single Moment in Time

A single moment in time
Changed our lives forever
That moment happened
Moments after the loss of my mother
And your wife.

You rose from her bed
And walked toward me
I held out my arms
And you embraced me.

I do not know if this
Was the very first time
We ever embraced.

Before that embrace
There was little
But walls surrounding us.
Walls that seemed to reach beyond the sky
And as far left and right
As my eyes could see.

Then in that one moment
As our arms wrapped around each other
All of those walls
Came tumbling down
And each stone was washed away.

Now what I feel for you
Is love and pride
Love that I know will never end
And pride
In a man
I am proud to call
My Dad.
