WritingML is the language used within Writing.Com that allows members to enhance their writing on our web-based system. Everything you need to embellish and enhance your writing can be found in the WritingML Help link under the main navigation's "Writing.Com Tools". Tags for basic writing tools such as bold, italic, underline are provided, as well as more complex tags like linking to members and items, embedding images, and more. WritingML is a markup language, very similar to HTML. If you are familiar with HTML, you will find it very easy to learn. If you have not worked with HTML before, you may still find it very easy to learn after reading through our simple descriptions, instructions and examples for each. We encourage you to experiment with the tags to become familiar and get creative with them! Visit the directory here: WritingML Help WritingML Icons A host of WritingML Icons is available at the top of any writing or editing window on Writing.Com to facilitate your edit process. This makes it very quick and easy to add attributes (bold, italic, underline, etc.), change the justification of your text, or re-format entire passages at the stroke of a few clicks. Just highlight the text you wish to modify and click the appropriate icon. If you're unsure what a particular icon does, hold your cursor over it for a description. Some keyboard commands, such as Ctrl-S for Save, also work in this window. Linking to WritingML Help Sometimes it is beneficial and helpful to place a direct link to a particular WritingML tag so that other members can quickly and easily read on it.
