A letter from the embassy came today and I think the content sagged my family's spirits a little bit. They're requiring Papa and I to go through complete physical examination once again. See, we had our PEs last year at this same month and Mama said that if the visa has not arrived a year after our 2006 physical examinations, they might require us to go through all that again. Well, she's right. I had my physical examination on January 17 last year and Papa had his PE completed January 30. So, looks like we're going through hospital horrors once again.

I'm not despairing; I know that God will have us leave when he wants to. His timing is perfect and I know that all of this is happening for certain reasons. We may not understand but we trust that He has our best interests at heart.

Papa then told me that maybe Mama can still take a vacation over here in the Phi. We also got to thinking that even though the PEs are gonna be real expensive again, it's still cheaper than the problems caused by my teeth if we got to move to Canada this early. My braces are still pretty young and of course once we get there we have to look for a dentist to continue the treatment. Ma said that dentists over there are really expensive, so that's one reason why our move being postponed is good.

I'm babbling.

So, I guess the move is postponed for another couple of months. *Smile* Right now my mind is reeling. Should I look for a job? I know I should! I have to get off of my butt and be productive!

Anyway, as most of you already know I'm trying my hands at a fundraiser to help me get my ultimate dream—a 1 year Premium Membership (goes all dreamy-eyed here). If E managed to get hers, why can't I, right? *Bigsmile* Yep, I'm officially crazy, but I don't care! *Laugh*

I've been really busy with this so I haven't had the time to stop by your blogs lately. Once things get slower, I know I will eventually come back! I can't keep away too long from you guys, anyway.

If you can stop by and help with the donations, that would be sooo great. *Smile* And to those who have already donated, thank you so much! The kindness and generosity around this site just touches my heart.

I've been having really weird dreams lately. I like having dreams but I hate having nonsense dreams. *Bigsmile*

So the other night I dreamed that I was driving this small chevrolet (don't really know what it's called) and then when I reached our corner turn I abandoned the chevrolet and proceeded inside a Toyota Revo. Then I remembered, "Hey, how about my Chevrolet?" so I got out again, picked the chevrolet up with my bare hands, and stuffed it at the back of the SUV. *Rolleyes*

Ramon's been sick these past two days so maybe that's why I dreamed of him last night. In my dream we were lying down and he was really sick, but he still wanted to score (kinda embarrassing since I'm the one having the dream *Blush*). Nothing happened but the thing that stuck to me was that he was BALD. Eww. Well, semi-bald. Still eww. I told him of my dream a while ago, saying that he should never shave his hair cause it was just ugly. He laughed, saying that maybe it was a future dream thingy and so maybe we're already old at my dream, thus making him bald. He asked if I was bald, too. *Laugh* I told him no, that I was still very pretty and very, very young, and that he was the only ugly one. *Bigsmile*

I've had several dreams that affected me even after I woke up. When I was a kid I dreamed that Papa got hit by a truck and I woke up crying. My dad came into my room and comforted me. I told him what my dream was and he said that I shouldn't be afraid because his life was in God's hands. Then we prayed together. After that a feeling of peace creeped into my tiny little heart and off to sleep I went again. *Smile*

Almost a month ago I dreamed that I was already on a plane going to Canada, but I was alone. In that dream I was feeling so lonely, so I decided to write Ramon a letter, using the gleaming pages of some environmental magazine. *Rolleyes* As I was writing I started crying, and when I suddenly woke up I was like, "What the he..?" then I burst into tears, too. Stupid, huh? *Bigsmile*

My best dream so far was of the Lord. I got that dream not long after I almost got attacked by a dog here in our street. In my dream I was walking the same street when a huge, demonic-looking, rabid dog suddenly came out of nowhere and jumped to attacked me. Just as the creature was about to make contact and tear on my flesh someone suddenly embraced me and the dog disappeared. That 'Someone' was the Lord, and He was so beautiful. Then He whispered in my ear. "Don't be afraid. I am Jesus Christ and I love you."

I woke up with the warmest, happiest, and the greatest feeling I've ever felt in my life. I was crying when I woke up but it was tears of absolute joy. Also, a deep feeling of peace was within me... I can't really explain how awesome I felt that night. I still felt the Lord's presence even after I woke up. It was just... beautiful.

Nothing could beat that dream... and that night. *Smile*

Our two new kittens Ham and Sage (short for sausage) had been deported to our side yard this morning. Basically my father could not take all the poop on our backyard anymore and this morning's very long, very green moist thingy was the last straw. Sage did not put up a fight but Ham was a hard one to catch. I had to lure him to settle in a dustpan, then I carried that dustpan and into the sideyard he went. I pretty much think Ham thought he was flying. *Bigsmile*

So Bubbagump (their mom) was meowing in this really distressed tune, like she was going crazy. She kept jumping back and forth from our back to sideyard, maybe wondering how her two kittens managed to switch homes. Yes, I do all the catching and carrying while Bubba's not around. I didn't want to mess with one clawy mama!

(Yes, I'm well aware that clawy is not a word.)

Bubba's other son, our other cat Wolfi, is very sweet to his mother's two new kittens. He's huge for his age; he's not even a year old! He looks like a wolf but he's a real softie. He's the sweetest cat around. I've been trying to look for a picture of him but all I came up was this:

I'll try to come up with better shots next time, to show you all his wolf-like face. *Smile*

Sage!

The legend of our cats' pompom tails were obliterated the moment Ham and Sage was born. I was a little disappointed that the long line of tail pompoms was destroyed, but we love those little cuties all the same!

There's this cartoon called Doraemon that I absolutely am fond of. When I was spending my internship at PLDT all of us used to watch it regularly—us interns, our bosses, the security group, everybody. *Laugh* It's made for little children but it's a hit with all age groups because it is just too amusing and cute.

So basically there's this cute blue alien and a little boy called Nobita that are the bestest of friends. Doraemon is the cute blue alien and he's always the one to drag Nobita out of his messes. Most of the time Nobita thinks he knows everything, that he can do it all; so he ignores Doraemon's warnings and advices. The result is always disastrous but thankfully Doraemon's always ready to help him.

The best thing about Doraemon is that he has this little pocket right smack in the middle of his torso and he can pull out anything he wants or needs. Most of the time he pulls out tools that will help Nobita or serve Nobita. And most of the time, Nobita uses it in the wrong way, so in the end Doraemon always has to bail him out of his troubles. Then Nobita learns a valuable lesson.

I got to thinking and couldn't help but notice how alike we are to Nobita. Most of the time we think we know everything, and that we can do everything without God's help. We ignore His Words and we ignore Him; but in the end when everything's a mess, He is always there to pick us up once we repent and come back to Him.

I think it is natural with us humans to exhaust all resources first before we come to the Almighty God. We do it our way, thinking we're well capable of things; we use our wealth, health, talents, everything. And I'm not saying that that is a bad thing cause it's not. We of course should use the things that God has blessed us with. But we should never depend on them first rather than on the One who gave them to us in the first place.

Isn't it funny how people only think of praying when there's nothing more that they can do? When in fact they should have come to the Lord first. Prayer is so powerful that it's just really stupid to use it as a last resort. We should always come to Him first, and to depend on Him and Him alone. I think that putting our security in anything or anyone other than God is beyond stupid, for everything can change, but Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

My papa always told us, "Do not love the blessings, but always the One who blesses." My heart is overflowing with thanksgiving and gratitude today, and I can't explain why, but there's just this wonderful feeling of peace. *Smile* Thank you, Lord. You alone deserve all glory and praise.

Well, looks like I blew it again. No blue month attempts for me from now on, ever. I've tried it a couple of times and none ever worked. *Smile*

Right at this moment I can hear succeeding small explosions from outside. I don't know what it is but it sure is enough to cause a little electric fluctuation here inside our home. So I'm going to make this entry a short one.

What is up with my number, man? Look: pencilsoverpens . I was at 55! Actually I've been at 55 about two months ago but then it went back down to 53 again. Then I received a couple of badges so again it went up to 55. Now it's down to 53 again! I don't know what's going on anymore! *Laugh*

Plus I have Blitzkrieg Bop running nonstop over my head the whole day. The result? Me bursting into lyrics every now and then without warning. "Shoot 'em in the back now!" Brutal.

Soaps have always been a huge thing here in the Philippines, and for the longest time our own productions and Spanish telenovelas have invaded our airtime. My mother have always been a fan of those, and I don't think I can ever list the number of soaps (Filipino & Spanish) I've watched with her. At the beginning these soaps are always entertaining, but as the story goes on it just becomes more and more annoying... and STUPID. Let me list a couple of stupidities I've watched from previous soaps:

Soap #1:

A female lead character got raped by a lesbian woman. A lesbian woman who got her pregnant.

*Rolleyes*

Soap #2:

Mother: Son, what are you doing up?
Son-In-Law: I can't seem to sleep, Ma.
Mother: Don't worry, I'll fix you a cup of coffee.
Son-In-Law: Thanks, Ma.

*Rolleyes*

Soap #3:

The lead character is serving this rich family with no mother. The whole husband and the kids thought that his wife and their mother is dead, but turns out that she was still alive (with amnesia). The lead character finds the mother and out of her goodwill she locks her up in the family's house basement, bringing her food everyday and stuff. When the family found out that the lead character was hiding her down there, they fell all over themselves and thanked her, along with all the dramatic dialogues that they wouldn't have known what to do without her.

*Rolleyes*

Same Stupid Soap:

This wonderful lead character applies for a job and after only a day gets promoted.

*Rolleyes*

Still the same stupid soap:

One of the main characters tried to bum off ten million pesos from the company he was working in, and told his boss that he would just pay him back slowly with his salary. His position on the company? CLERK.

*Rolleyes*

There are tons of stupid soaps and I just can't list them all! Sometimes while we are watching we get carried away and throttle ourselves out of frustration and annoyance because these lead characters just can't seem to do the no-brainer stuff. They always have to punish themselves and everyone around them by doing the stupid thing. Why do we watch them, you ask? Well, just because *Bigsmile*

Or maybe we're stupider (more stupid?) ah, you get my point. *Bigsmile*

Over the past couple of years though, Korean soaps started invading us, too. These soaps are more tolerable in comparison. Sure, there's still annoying ones that suck the energy out of you while watching, like that one love story soap where all the couple did was run around the city and shout each other's names. *Rolleyes* Or how about that one where the female lead died of leukemia, and then the male lead got hit by a truck while in mourning? *Angry*

Okay, Tin, breathe. Focus on the decent ones.

There's actually a few good ones, but the best has got to be Jewel in the Palace (translated, it's Korean). The soap is based on a true story about Jang Geum the Great, one of Korea's Historical figures. It's a very good story about good vs. evil, and this soap showed how this girl overcame a lot of hardships in her life and eventually rose to the top, but all the time remaining sweet and humble. In a male-dominated society she worked hard to get into the palace and eventually became a royal cook, where evil and jealous people worked nonstop to have her thrown out or killed. She later became a royal physician who solved a lot of epidemic back then, then ultimately became the physician of the king, inspite of a lot of social discrimination. Her love story is very sweet, too.

If you're looking for a really good watch, I would honestly suggest that. It won multiple awards and it's a story that will truly captivate you and surely touch your soul. There's DVDs with translation so it's possible nowadays. Even my dad who hates soaps of all kind loved it.

I wish Filipinos would create more soaps based on our rich historical culture too, like Korea has done. That would certainly be better than girls getting pregnant from lesbos.

I've been craving chicken since the last week of 2006, and the craving hasn't stopped yet. It began when we bought a KFC chicken bucket for Noche Buena on December 24, I mean it was so good, especially with mashed potatoes (goes bug-eyed, tongue hanging out with a beating heart animation beside it). *Laugh* Then on Christmas Day my uncle also cooked a bunch of very tasty friend chicken, and let me tell you that his fried chicken are one of the yummiest there is. When we went home that night my dad bought grilled chicken too. And from December 26 up to this day, I've been having chicken everyday. When I go out with friends I always eat chicken. When I eat out with Ramon we always eat chicken (much to his amusement, but I think my craving has rubbed off on him *Laugh*). When I go out with Maricor we eat chicken, too (much to her annoyance, she thinks I've gone cluck-cluck-crazy). And here in our house, all we've been having lately is chicken (since I SO want it) and fish (since Papa SO wants it).

*Cry* It's like I have gone insane! All I want is chicken, chicken, chicken!!! *Cry*

Sometimes when I'm sitting or laying down the image of a hot fried chicken suddenly pops up in my head, and then I start concocting plans on how I could get my family to buy me chicken again. Most of the time I succeed. Tomorrow we're having one of my favorite chicken fast foods, but today we're having (guess what) yes, fish.

Do you guys have any idea on how I can stop this craving, this crazy chicken addiction? Maybe you need to post more David McClain and ccstring chicken pictures to turn me off of them? Add more of partyof5dj's clucking pics and maybe this yearning will finally go!

Bah, I have to go, I need to cook some fish. *Frown*

I'm going to try and have a blue month. I've been on and off about blogging these past few months so I am gonna try and get myself into a steady flow of blogging funk here. Thank God you guys have Daylight Savings Time, or January 2 would've been down the drain already! *Laugh*

I am off to the mall in a few (gotta get myself some new underwear, they said those stuff are really expensive in Canada). Mostly what's expensive there is cheap here and what's cheap there is expensive here. Sick world, huh? *Laugh* I'm kidding, that's a good thing.

A few months back I blogged about the Subic Rape Case and I thought it would be good if I updated you guys about it a little bit. Out of the four US Servicemen only one has been convicted guilty, and that's Daniel Smith. You'd think everything would be going well now what with justice being served and all but that is so not the case. Everything is still chaotic, just this week the victim's camp protested again because Smith had been transferred to the US Embassy for detainment, taking him out of real jail. Countless of protestors are raving mad because that is against our law, but there is also the Visiting Forces Agreement or VFA to consider. Arroyo and the Malacañang Palace have admitted that they have played a big role and have intervened to get Smith transffered to the US Embassy, and that's what got so many raging. People feel that our government places their relationship with the United States first before us, their own countrymen. I can't even begin to describe how messy the political situation here in the Philippines is, what with idiot administration congressmen also forcing Charter Change down our throats, blatantly pushing it through Conventional Assembly which is against our constitution, so that the 2007 May Elections doesn't have to take place. (Because if it does, each and every one of them will surely lose and be out of power.) Ahh, maybe in another blog (think blue month! *Bigsmile*).

My phone just finished charging. That's one of the cheapest things here too, text messaging and calls. The Philippines is actually the texting capital of the world and we truly stand to live up to it. *Rolleyes* We even have unlimited text messaging, like you pay 50 Pesos and for five days you can text and text and text and text and text... you get my point. Why am I even rambling about this?

My 5-day unlimited text messaging just expired, it's time to bum off another 50 pesos from Equilibrium 's own load. Yes, we can transfer credit from one person to another, too, and that's as low as one peso! *Bigsmile*

In my previous entry andrew left a comment about people firing guns to celebrate the New Year. I told him there's been a lot of that here, too, but also said that the numbers have gone down this year. Looks like I was wrong.

A total of 907 injuries have been reported this December 31-January 1. Most have been victimized by our most famous types of firecrackers. The number of random shot victims have increased compared to last year. 19 people were accidentally shot by lost bullets last year, while this year a total of 35 incidents have been reported. Even two policemen were guilty of two of those injuries for firing their gun illegally to celebrate New Year.

There's also been a total of 284 fires this whole month of December, with 23 of them happening only this December 31-January 1. The most common cause were firecrackers going off and burning the places down. Houses, shopping malls, public markets, and even a church here from my own town got burned. Millions of worth have been destroyed by these unfortunate accidents.

Thankfully no one died this year, though. I guess that's a reason to smile?

What were you doing when the clock struck twelve at your part of the world? Me, I was taking a dump. Yes, how fabulous, right? Minutes after that Ramon and I argued over text messaging (he's away at Sual). I casually mentioned that Chester (the old friend I told you all about from my previous entries) made contact and wished me a Happy New Year. Ramon knew I liked the guy big time back then so he punished me for it by being jealous. I hate it when he gets jealous.

The bright spot—I saw a couple of fireworks. Bright, big ones that made me grin like a little child. Unfortunately I missed out on most of them cause while they were all going off I was feasting on the table with a cheese sandwich (sammich? *Smile*) and scrambled eggs. Now ain't that grand! *Rolleyes* Seriously, we had no real food for New Years. Just a couple of this and that, so I made do with what we have *Smile*

I hope January 2 and the rest of the year goes a lot better for me. No more taking a dump and arguing on huge, important moments—please!

Only 7 more hours to go at my part of the world and 2006 will be officially over. I can't believe how time can fly away this fast—seems like only yesterday we were celebrating the dawn of '06!

New Years here in the Philippines is loud, noisy, bright, chaotic. If we have Noche Buena on Christmas Eve, we have Media Noche on New Year's Eve. Basically the families gather for a large feast as soon as the clock strikes twelve am. My family and I used to follow this tradition, but we usually get hungry at around 8 PM and by the time the clock strikes 12 we're all dozing off on our beds, stuffed *Laugh*

The Filipino New Year can never be complete without firecrackers and fireworks. It's a thing we got from the Chinese culture but this tradition had been carried out and practiced for countless generations. The Chinese believe that the chaos and noise of the firecrackers drives the demons and bad luck away. *Rolleyes* I have never been that fond of firecrackers due to safety reasons—I'm fonder of watching fireworks and the beauty of its bright lights when it explodes in the dark sky. Beautiful, and safe.

We have hundreds of firecrackers with different kinds and types. In every corner of Manila you will find firecracker vendors, mostly illegal. People spend thousands buying them and as soon as the sky turns dark on December 31 you will hear different explosions everywhere. People will all go out in the street to light up their firecrackers. Car horns will be blaring and makeshift trumpets will be tooting. Right now it's not even dark and there's already noise everywhere! This noise will escalate into a defeaning tune as the clock's hands comes nearer and nearer to twelve. The commotion only dies down at the wee hours of dawn.

Hospitals at these times are crammed to the full, too. *Frown* Sadly a lot of people get 'exploded upon' by these firecrackers they adore so much. Our Department of Health had always advised people to just use trumpets or fireworks, or at least always be very careful when handling firecrackers, but us Pinoys are a stubborn lot. They always choose the dangerous toys instead of the safe ones. And of course there will always be accidents. Doctors are on double shifts every New Years Eve, and January 1 evening news are always full of bloody people that had not taken enough caution or are just plain unfortunate.

*Sick*

May your 2007 be filled with health, wealth, and happiness... a very Happy New Year to you! And to my fellow countrymen, please, have a SAFE ONE!

In this joyous season of merrymaking and endless parties,
always remember:

Thou Shalt Not Weigh More Than Thy Refrigirator.

Happy 2007 to you and your family!
