| Just wondering if it's possible to have a promotion box on the front page (similar to review requests) for us to manually enter our blog entries so we can garner more readers? As blog entries are linked to as { entry } we cannot showcase them on any of the other usual routes, like the review request page. Also, an incentive program for blog comments would be very cool. In the comments of this blog entry, some of us talk about some options for an incentive program. What wouldn't work and why, that kind of thing. "Invalid Entry"  Not trying to step on anybody's toes, just talking it up. ---

| Although we can't plug or request reviews to a "blog entry," we can plug the blog itself since it's an "item." In the words of the request, we can specify the entry sequential number or the entry number itself (although we can't use WritingML in that description). I agree that the opening Home page of WdC could possibly use a section for "Blogs" either random or recent. Seems like a small code change to make it happen since there's all the other categories. Of course, there's always the recent Blog List itself found via link under the calendar in the left column when in your own blog as "More Blogs" - http://www.writing.com/main/list_items/type/blogs. The real question here is whether any of the bloggers will find this Forum post? Maybe we need to add a link to our blogs - [post:2358713] except with squiggly brackets - and keep the dialog going. | Seeing as blog writing is considered an essential tool for writers, it makes sense for such a big destination as WDC to have a serious blogging platform available. Having a place to promote individual blog entries, and not just the whole blog carte blanche, is of the utmost importance to giving writing 2.0 (ie. blog writing) a fair go. I agree that it should be just a small code change to allow entry rather then bitem into a blog promotion box. As for the recent blog list, that is all good and well for folks who are blog hunting but what needs to change is the casual WDC users awareness of blog entries available. (hence blog entry promotion box on front page where they would see it whether they want to or not ;) ). |
| I support any ideas that could bring more readers to my blog page. My blog page also brings readers to WDC as I will often post a link on my face book page. Good ideas!
