| Hello, I'm Byron. I've found my way here from the Daily Flash Challenge where I was fortunate to win the steampunk round sponsored by the Author's Guild. I've been here at WDC for about a year and have spent most my time writing flash for Arakun. Now, I want to start a real project and am leaning toward a steampunk / urban fantasy / trans-dimensional world building exercise. You know...for fun. I'm thinking short stories 1500/2000 words or so. Written fast...pulp style. Series with a serial sub-point (I honestly lose the distinction between the two...basically pantser storytelling.) I'm hope to find inspiration and guidance here. Inspiration in reading and discussing the genre. Guidance navigating between trope and cliche. Anyway, Hullo (Wow, I am remarkably boring first date. lol) |
| Writing is all about fun! You should have a great time here in the Guild! Welcome! Wishing you all the best! Maybe consider writing a Novelette? Perhaps just 25,000-30,000 words? If it gets bigger from there all the better! | Thanks for the encouragements. My live readers are also pestering me to start a real project. They like the flash pieces, but are hungry for more story. So, anybody up for an adventure? I'm leaning toward British India. |
