| Greetings steampunk aficionados! I am unveiling our August contest a tad early. I wanted to give members a chance to use at least part of their weekend to start the challenge, should they have the time. The contest is a review contest. Members will be asked to review at least 3 stories or chapters found on WdC (preferably steampunk or some related genre). When reading and reviewing, please affiliate with the group. Also, please use our review raider sig #1777407 Boiler Room Raider For each review, please post into the forum with "review": in the subject line and copy and paste the review item number into your post. I will want to be able to click on the link and have it take me directly to your review. If you are unsure how to do this, please ask, but I think most know how already. Please follow these guidelines in order to enter the contest. Here they are again: 1. Affiliate your review with our group 2. Use image # 1777407 at the end of your review, which is our review sig.If the author clicks on the sig, they will be brought here 3. Post your reviews in this forum with "review" in the subject line and the review link in the body of your post In order to get into the contest, you must do 3 reviews. PRIZES! Of course there will be rewards for your work! The member with the most quality reviews will receive a Steampunk MB. Quality reviews must be at least 500 characters and offer a solid critique (both good and bad) that would prove helpful to the author should they look to revise the piece. Let them know what worked and what maybe didn't so much, if you find anything. Be helpful, but positive and respectful. Degrading reviews will not be counted. There is something positive in every piece of writing. The next prizes will be given to reviewers who reviewed at least three pieces and who made a concerted effort to be helpful to the author. A member need only do three reviews to receive these awards, but more may be better. 5 raffle tickets to any raffle happening in September 5K GPs to three members who have done quality reviews Prizes for authors: Not only will we award our members, but we will also award three authors for their pieces of steampunk writing. This will be based on member reviews, which is why it is important to review as much steampunk as you can on the site. Of the pieces reviewed, the judges (and I am looking for at least one more judge, if anyone is interested) will choose 1st through 3rd place. The 1st place winner will receive a Steampunk MB from our group. The other 2 winners will receive an awardicon for their steampunk work, also from our group. We hope, by awarding authors for their work, that it will bring more authors into our group and to create more buzz around our genre in general. Get involved! What do you have to lose? | There were no judges for this particular contest. For the Firebox, definitely, but not for the review contest. This was simply a review contest. I left it open to all members simple because I wanted everyone to be able to affiliate their reviews with the group (which you have to be a member in order to do), and also to use the Boiler Room Raider sig. To get into the contest all that was required was to complete 3 reviews of any stories on the site - preferably steampunk or sci-fi, but it was open to any reviews, as long as they were affiliated with the group. I was hoping to use the review contest to get the word out about the group.... again, with the affiliation. Maybe we'll try it again next month! Steam on!
