A month-long novel-planning challenge. NaNoWriMo'ers welcome! 2026 sign-ups open Sept 1st. |
Well, I'm now 25,000 words into my NaNo, and I've gone as far as my Prep outline could take me. I'm writing myself into uncharted territory and the book is taking a turn down a road I didn't anticipate at first. Thus far, the inner conflict of my protagonist has really built itself nicely through this unknown fork in the road, and I find myself going back through the prep list, rebuilding my outline chapter by chapter to aid with my sprint to 50,000. I'm glad this happened sooner rather than later, since I have the buffer to compensate for the brainstorming time, but I must say, if it weren't this prep challenge, I'd most likely be typing away with no real direction. I've managed to get by writing like this for years, but I must say, I just can't bring myself to do it :P I never really noticed how nice it is to have a plot already formed. I can't begin to express my gratitude for the skills you've given me throughout the month of October! It's really taken my writing a whole new direction, and I actually feel sort of professional Best of luck in reaching your NaNo goals! J. M.
