Last week it was work. This week, it’s my oldest lying at home with the flu that promise to be the big disrupter to all my plan. So, yeah, it’ll be difficult to set realistic goals.
So, while last week went pretty well, I will, once again, keep my ambitions on pretty much the same level instead of upping them.
While I won’t put it on the goals list, I do have some small hope that I might be able to get more exercise and participate in the weekly Codex online lunch meeting.
Core Goals
Write, edit, or outline every day: Same number one priority as always. Got to stay consistent.
Get exercise: Another regular goal. The aim is to get 2-3 proper exercise sessions done and at least some brief exercises on the rest of the weekdays. The hope is to do more than this, though.
Stop snacking: Somehow, I seemed to have a break with this goal the last couple weeks (not really sure why now). So this is one area where I do want to push myself. The aim is still no snacking, but now I also want to cut out any sugar in my cereals and hot chocolate at work. So, my only sugar intake should be via my coffee and in the weekends. Though, I’m hoping also to cut down on that last part.
Do vocal exercises: Same as always. I should be doing the vocal exercises 1-2 times a day.
Stretch Goals
Do a WYRM review: I got started on a review last week, but I still have some way left to go. Though, this is one goal that might actually get a little easier if I’m to stay at home with a sick kid some of the week (assuming she is so sick she will be sleeping half of the time).
Continue WiP: I would like to say that I will complete my current short story draft by the end of the week, but that is probably stretching it. I really don’t know how much writing time my kids and work will allow me, and I don’t have much of an outline for this one. So, I will keep the goal vague and hope to get at least another two scenes down.
Do writing exercises : Aside from my WiP a new story, I also want to keep doing writing exercises once in a while.
Read short stories: Same goal as I’ve had the last couple of weeks. I want read/listen to at least 3 published short stories.
Read “new” magazines: Once again, I want to force myself to read stories outside of my regular venues (Flash Fiction Online, Clarkesworld, and Podcastle).
Read/listen to non-fiction: I need to read/listen to podcast/chapters about at least 3 different non-fiction subjects. Ideally, they will also be different sources, different podcasts/books.
Do a blog post: This is the only truly new goal on the list compared to last week. I have reviews of a couple of the short stories I’ve read lately lying around, and really should get around to tying those into a coherent blog post and get them out there.
Submit short stories: Once again, I don't really have any short stories waiting to be send out, but in case I do get rejections, I want those stories out again as soon as possible.
Do Fantasticon work: Again, I don't really have anything lined up here either, but if something do pop where I can help out with planning our local con, I want to do so.
