One key part of writing is character development. There are many techniques available to assist writers in developing their characters so readers can connect and come away with a good understanding of the character and their motives. This contest explores those techniques.
Prompt for May 2012: Write a story that takes place at a party. It can be any type of party, but must use the atmosphere and the character's reaction to the party to allow the reader to connect with the character. Remember that the focus of the story is the introduction of the character.
The task is simple: Write a story using the prompt above to introduce your character to the reader.

Fiction.
Rated 18+ or below: Any entry that falls above this rating will be disqualified.
2000 words or fewer: Word count must be provided at the bottom of the item or your entry will be disqualified.
