Chapter #6

A month later

    by: k Author IconMail Icon
But the fox never left, once he felt the warmth of the house and saw that I fed him all he wanted, he refused to leave.

The first week was weird, I wasn’t used to having a pet! Much less having a wild animal as a pet. The fox spent all resting and eating, it was the opposite of what the internet said about this animals, but still, he was malnourished and it would probably get active once he got well, right? Oh boy was I wrong…

It seemed like the fox never got full, during the first week I increased the amount of food I gave him daily, and he still asked for more every time he finished it, screaming so loudly I just couldn’t refuse to feed him more or the neighbors would notice I had such animal.

Nearing the second week of him living at my home, he seemed really healthy, or at least like on the photos I saw online. I couldn't bring him to a vet because foxes where banned as pets on my country, so I just took care of him following online forums.

That’s when I started weighting him as I could just pick him up like a house cat and he just let it happen.
The first time I weighted him, he was 18 pounds, a little bit under what the internet said according to his size (he was big for a red fox).

As it was clear that he wasn’t going to leave soon, I had to give him a name!

-How should I call him? I looked at him while he ate a bowl full of bacon I had just given him

- I mean, he really loves bacon, maybe I should call him that… Well, its a pretty stupid name, but he really deserves it, its like there’s nothing other than bacon in this world for him, I try feeding him healthy things but the only things he wants are bacon and similar greasy things!

So I just started calling him that, and by the forth week at home, he started really earning that name.
I weighted him at 26 pounds! Bacon was starting to go from skinny to normal, to overfed really fast, and it was no secret why that was happening.

- Omg, 8 pounds in 2 weeks? That can’t be good for you!
