Chapter #4

Princess, the food loving Rottweiler.

by: Kyallo Dimitriov Author IconMail Icon
Name: Princess
Age: 4 years
Weight: 80 pounds

The sun filtered in to Princess' lair, a spare bedroom off the living room of Dr. and Mrs. Tedurani's west coast home. With a grand yawn, the black and rusty orange dog got up from her fluffy blue bed and headed for the door, hearing the sounds and smells of breakfast being made.

Princess was like most of her breed, fairly stocky through the chest, head and neck, with a thinning haunch that showed off all of the muscle her breed was known for. She knew that when the good doctor and his wife had come in to the shelter that Princess had been dumped at after her last 'job' as a test subject at some laboratory, that they were a pair of the good humans. They had been hesitant, after hearing her background, but the way that Mordachai, or Doctor as he was known to all the humans who came over and visited him, never took his eyes off of her, that was proof enough for her that they would soon be a family.

But then she began to worry, she had never had a family before, all she knew was that when the big metal bowl was put in front of her, she was supposed to eat it. But what if she did something that her new owners didn't like? What if she got to be too big for them, she was a big dog, and hadn't finished growing yet...

The fear and worry kept on even after all of the paperwork got signed and she was taken out to their car, loading up and laying down in the back of their minivan, much to the happiness and praise of both of them. But her fear caused her to shake and shiver, which the humans believed to be her being afraid of going with them. If only she could tell them how she really felt...The car ride home was short, and once they were out Princess was allowed to wander the front yard, smelling all the smells she could. Then it was time to see her new home, which she was given a tour of in depth, they even had a room that was all hers, with a big bed, lots of toys, and a big food dish that they promised would never be empty....

But that was then, this was now, and while they still treated her like the royalty her name suggested, they were busy humans, and that meant that Princess spent a lot of time alone, or with the dog sitter, James. If ever there was a human she could fall in love with, it was James. While the Tedurani's gave her kibble, James cooked and fed her human food, food that she never knew could taste so good. In fact, as she headed into the kitchen, it was James who was at the stove, already setting a large platter of sausage, bacon, eggs, and pancakes with butter down on the floor for her.

"Well good morning, Your Highness." James said with a grin, giving Princess a rub under the chin and along the neck at the same time.

Princess just barked twice and then dug into the food with snorts and sniffles of happiness, her tail wagging behind her in glee at seeing him, but especially at seeing the food.

Once she was finished, and the dishes were done, it was time to spend time with her favorite human.
