How should I write the Gen 2 arc(s) of the manga?

Poll Question:
I'm returning to this story after a very long time. So if this question feels familiar, it's because I've forgotten some of the stuff I originally had planned, and am rethinking other stuff.

In the Pokémon manga, the third games (Yellow, Emerald, and Platinum) got their own arcs. Crystal is a little different.

When originally written, Crystal was given it's own arc by Satoshi Yamamoto (who had just started as the main illustrator) to introduce the titular character. However, Crystal was a continuation of the previous arc, not a separate arc like how Yellow, Emerald, and Platinum are. So, how should I handle this?

Option 1
I follow the original division, making Gold & Silver Arc a separate path from Crystal Arc.

Option 2
I follow the modern fusion, and make Gold, Silver, & Crystal a single path.
