This blog keeps me in touch with WDC. Jamesdillingham.com keeps me in touch elsewhere. |
I like to stay in touch with WDC, even when I'm not contributing on a daily basis. My main blog is at jamesdillingham.blogspot.com |
I have not written anything for WDC in a few days, but that doesn't mean I haven't been writing. I have gone on a blog creation binge. I would love to be able to make a living be just writing. So, here is the plan: Sell collections of my short stories and professional documents on Amazon Digital (Kindle) which I am currently doing. Write a best selling novel during NaNoWriMo (I will complete this step in about five weeks) Get my various collection of blogs out there. Here is a link to my page of blog links. You may be surprised by some of my topics. http://www.jamesdillingham.com/my_world_006.htm So, I have been writing blog stuff and professional documents for about 3-4 hours a day for the last week. Next Monday, all of that effort gets shifted over to NaNoWriMo. Jim |
I have found a new outlet for my writing. While creative writing remains a passion, I have found that blogging really gives me a stage to say something I think needs to be said - even if no one is listening. Not counting this blog, I have 12 blogs. Twelve! They range from business blogs to Poetry for men to Cooking for the Single Guy to my main one, View From the Cheap Seats. I love it. I try to write in 2-4 of the blogs every day. This will suffer starting next Monday when NaNoWriMo is going to suck up all of my writing time. Jim |
I picked up my car at the airport after a 10-day vacation. Eight hours later, I gave it back to them as I am now off to Cleveland. No rest for the weary. I haven't written for a week. After a nap on the plane, maybe some Flash Fiction. j |
Dear Diary, It's been three days since my vacation started and I'm not sure I have enough energy to make it. Three flights converged in Washington DC followed by two days of sightseeing. On Monday, one flight went home to Hungary and two went to Savannah. It's now Tuesday and I have seen "all things Savannah." Tomorrow, two flights go to Washington DC followed by a car ride to Annapolis. J |
Something's going on; I just don't know what. I have 444 items in my portfolio. Up until about two weeks ago, I usually had about 30 stories a day read or at least looked at. For the last two weeks, the average views per day is up around 90. Is this happening to anyone else? Tomorrow I start the busiest vacation every. I fly to Washington DC. Two hours later, my step son arrives from Hungary. Two hours after that, my wife arrives from Hungary. We spend the weekend in DC. On Monday, my stepson flies home to Hungary while my wife and I fly to Savannah. On Wednesday, we fly back to Washington and drive to Annapolis. Thursday is tourist time in Baltimore. Friday and Saturday are spend doing reunion stuff (my 30th from the academy). Sunday my wife flies home to Hungary and I fly home to California. Monday, I fly to Cleveland to work for the week - and to take a break from vacations. J |
My novel will be based on a story I wrote from Flash Fiction called The Wilds {bitem:1438387 }. Today I am writing the basic characters out a bit. I think this will take several iterations as I come to know them. Interestingly, as I write about each one, scenarios for the story come to mind. Interesting. |
Proper, prior planning, prevents piss-poor performance. As least I learned something in the Navy. Actually, I learned a lot there. I have my 30th reunion at the U.S. Naval Academy a week from this Saturday. 30!!? Man I'm getting to be old. Right now, I am using the 7 P's to prepare for NaNoWriMo. I want to have my characters laid out and the plot outlined, chapter by chapter. I won't start on the story until the first but I want to be ready to go. Jim |
I have enter the NaNoWriMo Write a thon. My intent is to write a 50,000 work, Sci-fi, novella next month. |
The good news is that I am very busy and thus have little trouble paying my rent. The bad news is that since I have little time to write, it may be a while before my writing starts to pay my rent for me. j |
