Pool Fool for You

I was hanging
I was left hanging
and it was you who left me
Standing in the ever broadening silence that was not broken
Not broken but made more apparent by the din of the multi-coloured balls colliding into one another on the greeen felt table
And ah...
what manner of thing is it that lurks behind your smirk?
Made me feel foolish-
as if I had rashly spewed out my mass of disjointed words without prior thought
though (in truth) it took me exactly three beers, two cigarettes and one and a half games of pool to work up the nerve
Are you a coward?
Or am I truly a fool?
Thinking your questions loaded
Thinking you found me desirable even when your eyes were not glazed with intoxication
I believe you to be a coward, but hope that I am a fool.
