Serenity

White sand, a gentle breeze,
not a care or worry around--
only the rhythm of the waves
rock back and forth.

Turquoise-blue water
as far as the eyes can see
and swaying hammocks
match the ocean’s beat.

Sand mingles between toes,
spilling onto the beach
light and airy, falling
effortless and carefree.

Capture this serenity
to unwrap later
when turbulent waves crash
upon the sea of life.

It is so with Jesus--
a shelter of protection
and overflowing peace.
Rest in His serenity.
