Walk Away
Her eyes lock with mine We stand still, stop the time Her clothes are ragged and torn Skin blistered and worn Hands tied up in chains Eyes filled with a lifetime of pain Grey, once blue was the sky Gone as she kissed her life goodbye And they tell me to walk away Leave her there and carry on my day But how can I go on with my guilt With my conscience that I have built But shall I go her way Not for a visit but to stay Or should I do as they tell me And ignore her silent plea I won’t allow it to go on any longer Decision made, I don’t feel stronger But I step from my blue into her grey My mind made, I won’t walk away Grace
