         "You're so lucky," I said to my friend. "I wish I was you."

         She turned toward my voice.

         "Sarah, how can you say that? You know I'm blind."

         "There's a lot of ugliness in the world you don't have to see every day."

         She smiled gently. "Okay, Sarah, it's a deal."
