Night Intruder
I awakened in darkness. Something was moving through the house . . .

         I awakened in darkness. Drifting open, the door creaked softly.

         I listened. Soft footsteps moved accross the carpet.

         No, not again, I thought. Not tonight!

         His weight dipped the corner of the bed. I took a deep breath and sighed.

         The cat pressed his muzzle into my ear, purring loudly.

         "Barney!" I shouted, laughing. "Stop!"
