The After Dark Dance
Down in the meadow, there's a party going on.

Every Saturday night, the midnight sprites
and the moonbeam fairies join hands.
Down in the meadow they frolic all night
at the Magicwood After Dark Dance.

The fairies wear gowns made of pearly moth wings
and moonflower wreaths in their hair.
All through the meadow their sweet voices ring
and laughter fills the night air.

With nighthawk feathers adorning their caps
and coats lined with whippoorwill down,
around the bonfire the sprites dance and clap,
cartwheeling and tumbling like clowns.

The katydids fiddle, the bullfrog sings bass,
and the cricket quartet chirps a song.
The bandleader owl, with a smile on his face
turns and hoots to the crowd, "Sing along!"

When the stars fall asleep and the moon shuts his eyes
and the rising sun's rays come in sight,
The sprites and the fairies all say their goodbyes,
calling, "See you next Saturday night."
