A poem about the cage that jealousy builds. |
| Birds, like me, don't belong in cages. What's the use of beautiful feathers and long, strong wings, if I'm not allowed to fly? Commitment is my cage. I fill the space between the bars. Tempting is the voice of the world with which she whispers "freedom." Why is it that two birds can share a cage, but two cages can't share a bird? Damn man's jealousy that holds these bars so firm! I hope to find a love that will come without a cage. Someone, not to own me, but to admire how high I can fly. |
