A poem about freedom for a contest .

Freedom of speech.
Freedom to choose.
The right to bear arms,
We win, we don’t lose

We talk about freedom,
And expect it to be,
One of the rights given,
To you and to me.

But where does it come from?
This freedom of ours.
Does it just appear,
Like the night time stars?

You have to remember,
The many wars.
And the lives that were lost,
On those foreign shores.

It doesn’t come cheap.
We take, without thought.
But who pays the bill?.
For the battles we fought.

Next time you stand up,
And say what you please.
Remember a solider,
Get down on your knees.

Thank God for the soldier,
He’s human and flawed.
And Say thanks for the right,
To pray to our God.
