Deserving As Much
A dark poem about a man driven to the edge by those around him who would not relent. |
-Deserving As Much- by Keaton Foster  Truth, love, and hope Redefined as a rope Around his neck Suffocating with intent The distance is short The fall will be great Please understand Is written across his chest Each letter burnt into place Each consonant overstated It is meant for no one to read And for everyone to understand That he, a man of so many intricacies Could be driven to such a ledge They should have heard him His whimpers for help sounded like roars If they knew, they are doomed If they didn't, insignificant Ignorance cannot be claimed They all did indeed persist They would not give him A seconds worth of breath Befitting is his method of death They will comprehend Because the weight of such A decision equally spreads out Gravity applies to any And all situations They will be haunted By the idea of all that they did It will be like a draft on their neck That often comes right before Something terrible jumps up and screams Surprise, you mortal son of a bitch He will suffer less because His neck will be snapped from base to end It is a brutally predictable method of the end Because the body cannot support the weight Of such an all-encompassing decision Will he be in heavens wake Or will he be in hells lake Such a predicament matters less He is only concerned with the point The end to all meaning The setting free of a life at the Price of everything that comes next He will pay it with interest Any itemized deduction will benefit Those who remain to clean up the mess And place him within earths embrace He will get the only break A break that he is sure he deserves… Deserving As Much Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012.
