How do I get the stories in my mind on paper? Sometimes the words seem effortless. Other times...the words refuse to travel to my fingers. They just float around in some kind of soup, thick and opaque without form or substance. I thought that if I got to where I was writing daily, it might help and the words would get used to coming. So far, no dice. Even writing something for the Sprints can be difficult. It seems like the words are more comfortable with shorter time limits. In most cases, the Minis elicit more words than the officially timed ones. For this one, I thought writing about writing would tease the words out but, so far they are proving to be elusive. Maybe the answer for these is to avail myself of some prompts. I have used prompts before to get the juices flowing. Some of my better poems have been written due to provided prompts in various contests here at Writing.com.
Here I am, not even halfway through the half-hour time limit and I am quickly running out of those all-important words.
