Sunrise
Sunrise

And come the morn, it’s one more dawn that greets our opened eyes,
as flees the night, the sun so bright in glory it doth rise
into the east where colours feast in broadly painted skies,
and songs of birds that need no words release their joyous cries.

The day doth find our dreaming minds to wakefulness arise,
the shadowed mist, not sorely missed, in readiness applies
the daily chore and studied lore our routine now comprise,
the endless round, familiar ground, on which all life now flies.
