The Continuing Saga of Prosperous Snow |
Istijlál (Majesty), 12 ‘Ilm (Knowledge), 167 BE – Thursday, October 27, 2011 about 12:52 PM Nevada became a state on October 31, 1864. This year, we celebrate Nevada Day on Friday, October 28; this is so that everyone can have a three-day holiday. Many of the city and county office close on Friday anyway; this occurs because the local government wants to save money and closing the offices on Fridays, helps save money. I still have business to do on Friday, not that I would get a holiday any way. Mom is home on Saturday and Sunday, which means I have to stay home. There is a possibility I should have conducted some business today, especially since my bank may closed tomorrow. However, the ATM will remain open, so I can get the money I need that way. Back to Nevada Day, Carson City (the Capital of Nevada) plans a parade for Saturday, October 29, beginning at 10:00 AM. I am not sure what Las Vegas has planned for the celebration. I do not go to parades anymore; the closest I ever get to watching one is on television. Perhaps I should write a poem for Nevada Day. I feel that I should somehow celebrate the event, even if I do not go to the parade. |
