Moments stolen
between dishes washed
and laundry done...
a hot cup of coffee,
a newspaper,
or a prayer book.

Perhaps the house is silent
or the neighbor's dog is barking...
background music
for meditation
to sooth my weary soul,
my aching body.

These seconds
stolen for myself
transform drudgery
into joyful labor.
