Point of View
November 7, 2014 blog (I forgot to post it)

Blog City – Day 250

Yes, I was reading again, another blog I follow. What is point of view? How do you find that perfect voice in your story? Do you agree with how the author explained it? Do you prefer a particular tense when writing?

Point of view. I find a story's point of view usually dictates itself. It is a feel. I find the more I think about it the more muddled I get trying to form it into a box - third person (locked and shifting). For my Nano novel I am in the third person point of view with a shifting between my two romantic leads. The challenge is giving them equal time.

I also find it fun to play with point of view if a story get stuck and needs a reboot - shifting to first person and having your protagonist tell you what she wants to often recenters me and helps me find my way back into the story.
