Very nicely done. Almost a formal cinquain (I tweak formal ones; written a lot).

Speaker:
soft voice, cool head,
maneuvering, calculating, observing.
Wends his way to Paradise one vote at a time.
Johnson.

I don't agree with US House Speaker Johnson of Louisiana on most issues; but,
he stepped up to do a difficult job and his calm cool demeanor may help him move forward.
I vehemently oppose his world view, but 2024 looms. I remind myself to be patient.

As for Austen... different time, different culture, different use of language. I'm more fond of the dark Bronte sisters: Charlotte, Emily, Anne.

Response: I was crushed at a very early age. I grew up 'bittersweet'. The songs I chose so far for the Soundtrack contest reflect that.

At my age I just live with it, embracing both the bitter and the sweet.

I'm always amazed at how many people choose mountains and beaches. I'm attracted to open meadows or prairie streching to the horizon. When I go to Thailand it will be to the rice fields of Isan, not the beaches of Phuket or the mountains of Chiang Mai (both are beautiful).

But daily life? Maybe living in a cottage in the Cotswolds visiting my neighbors for a cuppa tea. But Lagos in Portugal, Lillehammer in Norway or Novi Pazar in Serbia might do just fine.

I gained weight during the "Neverending Season of Covid", a horror movie I did NOT consent to be a part of.

But... if I can get back to traveling... I sleep better, eat less, walk more, feel better.

As for cookies... they aren't allowed in my place, nor is chocolate and frankly I shouldn't have bought that can of cashews either.

Nursing is very hard work and I admire anyone who can do it. My mother was a nurse and loved it when she was assigned to work with pedriatic patients in the hospital she worked at (they were too small a hospital to have a NICU).

Anyway, this is a beautiful and moving blog post. You clearly love the work you do and are quite good at it. Thank you for sharing.

My Favorite Poem

[in Just-]

I love this poem because the imagery in the poem is so vivid and magical. I picture a man hobbling down the street with his balloons to sell calling children with his recognizable whistle. A neighborhood (world) that is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful. Can you not hear the kids splashing puddles as they run to meet him?
When I read this work, I realize the physical words of the poem can help tell the story. The placement of the words on the page can set the tone.

Far and wee is the sound the whistle makes. I can hear a low sound but a long sound from how the words are place.
And can you not picture two out of breath boys (eddieandbill) trying to catch the balloonman?

The whole poem is fun and magical and it's spring on paper.

I wrote several poem in the e.e. cummings style. I hope I did him proud.
