Hello, I am glad you are back. EX Navy, no wonder...My second son and my brother are both ex-navy and they both think ahead like you in another post talked about. Eight kids...lucky you. I raised three of my own then helped my daughter raise five. Your house must be bubbling with personalities.

Yes my oldest son was an alcoholic. I couldn't help him. I could not get him to even TRY to stop. It didn't end well for us. He took his own life at age 45 on his birthday. When a person doesn't want help there is nothing you can do. We tried interventions, we tried walking away, alcohol and drugs won.

You sound like a kindred spirit to my brother. BE PREPARED always for any and everything. Don't give up on your loved ones, not everyone thinks ahead. Some of us less evolved people like to slide along life's slopes on our butts. Good luck sometimes we have to experience the bunders before we learn. It might help that you can always say "I told you so."
Teach yes, love harder.

Nope! no swelling or strange feelings. I do get this killer itch sometimes but it's not just in my feet, it's in different extremities at different times, but other than that, nothing.

Okay. Sure why not.

They can tell a lot by blood tests and visually as far as diabetes. If it's Type to you can control it with diet awareness. I know one person who lost enough weight that she's no longer diabetic.
Do your feet swell up or have any unique feelings in them?

Yes, I have been reading your entries with interest. You have a talent for expressing yourself with honesty. I can apreciate that. I have experienced some very similar things in my life, as well.

If I were to do a review, I would have to call out the punctuation (or lack thereof)
But perhaps, some of this may be intentional to allow your feelings to be expressed. You are the writer here, but I just wanted to give my thoughts on this. Another thing I need to mention is the incomplete wording, such as, in”S”, 2nd line. “Feels like the world is moving i slow motion.

I really do like your work and look forward to reading more of it. Thank you for sharing.

I agree. I think the reason so many people side with him, who have no reason to side with him, is because they've dug their heels in. They've been scorned by people who knew better than they did, and the only way out of it for them, mentally, is to not be in the wrong. So they convince themselves that they aren't. In order to not be wrong, Trump has to be good. So he is, and everyone who says he isn't is lying. I think getting out of this mess is going to be tricky, and I'm not sure we can. But out best shot is to stop putting Trump's followers on the defensive and get them to understand that they have a place among us if they want to have one--and they must have a place, otherwise they will never leave Trump's side. Why would they?

I'm sorry. Getting your house back and your daughter back is a blessing, albeit in disguise.I do hope the police get him first. He won't even realize what he did was so wrong. SADLY. Work on healing her, she needs your help. Thanks for sharing.

Am i the asshole?

Ok, I may take some hits for this, but my hackles are up, and it happens almost everyday about something. As my mother once put it, i have a very logically ordered mind. If i was an alien, i would be a Vulcan, like Spock. Bad enough i'm a Virgo, right? I may also suffer from a slight ( i hope) case of OCD. So when i see someone do some shit that's not in a logical order, I lose it. I can barely conceal my anger and wonder at an individual that does shit like this. I live in constant awe of these bungling brain-dead creatures that just wander through thier day with no plan on how to make the most of their time, letting the currents of happenstance move them through the day like leaves floating down a river, slaves to whatever way the water goes. I have loved ones that fall into this catagory, and it kills me to see it. I argue with them, and , lo and behold, they suddenly become organized enough to mount an arguement that i'm sure they think proves their point, but then later that same day, if not in the same hour, i point out that not planing is why you missed your bus, missed an important appointment,or wasn't ready when an opportunity to make something good happen comes by, and all they had to do was be slightly organized in their day. Plan dinner before it's dinner time. don't get caught thinking you have hamburger for dinner when your son made it for a snack last night. If you would have planned dinner earlier and checked to see what you had, this woudn't have happened. But all my efforts to reform these people fail. Guess i will have to live by the wisdom of Reinhold Neibuhr, "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference."

Dead and Breakfast

How are you today world? Don's World is just fine! Check this out: You know how sometimes you get a song or something stuck in your head and you just can't get it out? Well i got this movie clip stuck in mine, and it's driving me crazy! If i go home and watch it, that should do it, i hope! But i'm at work and it's going on six hours ive been like this. What clip, you ask? Ok, here goes. The movie is called Dead and Breakfast, and in the movie an RV full of young hipsters ( it's an old movie, made back in 2004.) Uma Thurman is in it, and a few other folks you would recognize. They are on the way to a wedding, they stop in this tiny town and go to a bed and breakfast spot for the night , and a zombie outbreak traps them there. In the middle of the movie, a country singer turned zombie/country singer/ rapper does a song and the zombie horde does a line dance. Fuckin crazy! I will watch the whole movie just for that scene! Lord help me!

Maximum effort! There are days when i feel bulletproof! And this is one of them! It just feels like i have more control of my destiny than in past years. I WILL bend circumstances and situations to my advantage and make the things i want to happen happen. Oh come on, i'm 56 years old, i know shit dont just happen like that, but if you don't believe in yourself and what you want then it damn sure won't happen. Its like the lottery, you can't win if you don't play. Plus, the odds of you winning are way greater when betting on one's self if you believe.

Question: Have any of you had to deal with an alcoholic that you love to death, but are finding that you now have a fight on your hands? You and alcohol are fighting to see who gets this person you love so much. Anyone with any sage advice? Anyone ever win this fight? How? Asking for myself.

Ok, it's 2024 yall. What we doing , going for a better year than last year, or we on the same ol' shit we was on in 2023? I'm a "Hope for the best, plan for the worst " type of guy, and i dont much believe in new years resolutions, but damn i feel different than my usual " we probably gonna catch hell this year" . Could this be MY year? i been hearing folks say this is the year of "ME". Can it be? I mean, i had an unusually chill holiday weekend, other than my Lions getting cheated out of a win in stankin ass Dallas. No worries though, we may see them again in the play-offs. I'm back!

WOW! I'M BACK! Sorry about those caps, just excited to be back! How are all of you? Yo boy is feeling great! Really great! A lot has happened since i last blogged, and we will get into all of that later. For now i just wanted to get my feet wet again and re introduce myself. The name is Don, 56yrs old, married for 27 yrs, father of 8, 5 girls 3 boys, grandfather of 5. Ex Navy, a Metallurgical technician by trade, senior tech and team lead in my lab in the Dearborn Ford plant. Legal!

Holla! Just got our LLC permits submitted to the State, and we should get all our approval paperwork by the 22nd. Build credit and get our name in good standing, then next year go for the small business loan and open up our own dollar store, maybe a food truck too. You never know. I gotta have something to leave to my kids and grandkids, you know? And i will not die working for someone else. Same dream i had when i was selling dope, just a different, legal path.

Ribs!

Wow! i really enjoyed my three day vacation! Sat back and chilled, bbq'ed some great ribs, enjoyed my family. Really could have used one more day off, but i didn't take it as a vacation day , and if i didn't show up today i wouldn't get paid for yesterday. Hey! i'm down ten pounds in the last two weeks! God i feel good! i'm gonna keep going and see how much weight i can lose. Really gonna change the way i eat, but that'll have to wait til after this weekend, cause i barbequed up some of the best ribs you could imagine. Marinaded in my own special marinade for 24 hrs. cooked just right, and added a new bbq sauce recipe i got from Steve Harvey. Worked like a charm. Just look at this!
