I agree we get braver as we get older, but we are wiser. It's no longer stupid bravado, but contemplated wisdom in the bravery. If our mind stays sharp, the bravery continues...

But then when our bodies start to hinder us in older age the fear creeps in, especially if we don't trust our bodies or minds to manage.

either way, I say steady on. Keep making the leap and challenging yourself because it will help to keep you young and virile... even into older age.

These are two great, thoughtful entries, Carly. I like your thoughts on the different ways of enjoying an experience. First you live the experience, but in my experience it doesn’t seem real at the time, it’s only afterwards your mind lets you see it like a film or movie. I’ve never bungle-jumped for instance but have done other adventurous things, but I can imagine seeing myself doing it from another’s perspective,
As for the second quote, one wonders why we’re so fearful sometimes. I lways ask myself “what’s the worst that can happen?” I probably won’t die, I may get derided or laughed at, but that’s not my problem and shame on anyone who would do such a thing. Anyway as get older we get braver. And that’s true.

Those experiences that are painful unfortunately haunt you and often are the best fodder for writing.
I love the quote too because it reminds me that second time is the best.

When I think of this quote a blank page comes to mind. I fear not being able to write more than most in the moment things but my life is quite sheltered now. In the past, I would have been more like your entry. I lived in fear all the time.

It's so good to see your entry today. As always, very thoughtful entry.

I sat with a wise-old Swede recently lamenting about my inability to make good choices... or just choices.

I said that I liked Sisaket (in Isaan, Thailand) better than here... He said... then go. What about my loneliness? "Someone there will be attracted to you."

Let it come?

He also mentioned his many romantic failures, including one girlfriend of 3 years who slashed him. *sigh* He has a new one. We met. I like her.

I would never hope that anyone was treated unfairly, but I get the point of his message.

The "this too shall pass" has helped me many a time.

Living in the present is a challenge, I agree, but sometimes it's good to just Zen out the world....even for 5 minutes at a time.

There's a song I think about every time I hear "nothing stays the same." It's by Patty Loveless, and it's called How Can I Help You Say Goodbye. Life definitely changes. I have a tough time living in the present. It's hard not to fall back into the past or worry about the future.

Amazing designs, don't you agree? Which one appealed to you most, why? What's your favorite architecture near where you live?

I found myself wanting to explore the more natural architecture of the area. Lyn's a sly fox

is telling us we will be off to Belize tomorrow and I did not want to miss the many waterfalls in the area. To be able to swim in the clear water and see the natural wonders of the place just felt right. I breakfasted with my fellow travelers, then as they went off to trek the streets of Brasilla in search of cathedrals and other interesting architectural designs, I headed for the car that would take me to my destination and my own adventure. I knew I would see the pictures of the places they visited later at dinner, but I wanted to bring my own photographic memories to that dinner.

I am still remembering the Moroccan designs. Those were beautiful.

Many of these tours of the waterfalls are several days, but I opted for one sweet day.

Couros falls is one of the most incredible walks of the Chapada dos Veadeiros. It’s about 15 km of asphalt road and 35 km of dirt road, but all of it is compensated at the first stop where I could not only see an incredible fall, but also bathe in its refreshing and strong waters. It was heaven!!! The trail allowed us to see 3 more falls of great volume and indescribable beauty. It’s definitely one of those places where no image can represent the magic of seeing and feeling those waters in real colours. Still I took photographs to remind me of my experience. It was hard to leave and head back to the bustle of the city, but I was eager to see my friends and get a great meal.

Our group is going to enjoy your recommendations this evening. Don't be out to late we're off to Belize next. Perfect timing Hurricane Laura has already gone past our location

I saw some of the reviews and this restaurant misses the mark where the food is concerned. The atmosphere and everything else seems above board... so a little help, even if it is from some Yahoos from elsewhere.... it couldn't hurt.

I suggest the cheese bread and the fish stew! Looking over the menu of 30 The chicken wings and fried pastries look delectable as well... and don't forget the Brazilian lemonade. And of course the chocolate fudge balls. Of course the Brazilian names are far more authentic sounding... but it all looks and tastes divine!

We ate and drank some wonderful, tasty dishes and drinks. We shared out adventures and our photos and we talked and laughed. Lyn's a sly fox

reminded us of our early departure for tomorrow to Belize so we headed back to our hotel to settle in... but not before another swim to cool me off before sleep.
