These are two great, thoughtful entries, Carly. I like your thoughts on the different ways of enjoying an experience. First you live the experience, but in my experience it doesn’t seem real at the time, it’s only afterwards your mind lets you see it like a film or movie. I’ve never bungle-jumped for instance but have done other adventurous things, but I can imagine seeing myself doing it from another’s perspective,
As for the second quote, one wonders why we’re so fearful sometimes. I lways ask myself “what’s the worst that can happen?” I probably won’t die, I may get derided or laughed at, but that’s not my problem and shame on anyone who would do such a thing. Anyway as get older we get braver. And that’s true.

Those experiences that are painful unfortunately haunt you and often are the best fodder for writing.
I love the quote too because it reminds me that second time is the best.

When I think of this quote a blank page comes to mind. I fear not being able to write more than most in the moment things but my life is quite sheltered now. In the past, I would have been more like your entry. I lived in fear all the time.

It's so good to see your entry today. As always, very thoughtful entry.

We are magnetically charged meat suites. ... nice.

I sat with a wise-old Swede recently lamenting about my inability to make good choices... or just choices.

I said that I liked Sisaket (in Isaan, Thailand) better than here... He said... then go. What about my loneliness? "Someone there will be attracted to you."

Let it come?

He also mentioned his many romantic failures, including one girlfriend of 3 years who slashed him. *sigh* He has a new one. We met. I like her.

I would never hope that anyone was treated unfairly, but I get the point of his message.

The "this too shall pass" has helped me many a time.

Living in the present is a challenge, I agree, but sometimes it's good to just Zen out the world....even for 5 minutes at a time.

There's a song I think about every time I hear "nothing stays the same." It's by Patty Loveless, and it's called How Can I Help You Say Goodbye. Life definitely changes. I have a tough time living in the present. It's hard not to fall back into the past or worry about the future.

Sometimes living in the moment feels like ground hog day with Bill Murray for me. I keep trying to see the positive but it is challenging.

The balloon ride is is a unique way to experience a safari. It was one of the most magically memorable of the Serengeti experiences. A balloon safari allowed us to drift in silence above the splendour of the plains. We dipped down to visit the hippo pools of the Grumeti River and enjoyed a bird's eye view of the wildlife theatre as it was enacted below us. This is Africa!!!

We were awakened by an early morning cup of tea, then we were driven to the balloon take-off point. There, we met our balloon pilot and watch as the team inflates the enormous rainbow-coloured balloon. As dawn breaks and the balloon slowly rights itself, we were helped into the wicker basket, the sandbags were cast off and the balloon rose majestically into the cool of the morning air.

After a 45-minute flight, our balloon descended to the plains, where the ground crew greeted us with a glass of chilled champagne. Later, we had a full English breakfast, which is traditionally cooked on the burners of the balloon. After breakfast, we enjoyed a leisurely game drive back to the lodge.
